  • The Challenge

The proposals for this project included the demolition of the existing office building to make way for the construction of a new residential development. As part of this project, the developer needed to ensure the air quality throughout construction as well as local air quality for new residents would remain sufficient. RWDI was commissioned to produce an air quality assessment for this development to support the planning application.

  • Our Approach

RWDI’s team of air quality experts:

    • Conducted an initial baseline air quality assessment to verify new residents would not be introduced into an area of poor air quality.
    • Performed a dispersion modeling assessment to predict the local air quality impact of operational traffic
    • Leveraged ADMS-Roads modeling software to demonstrate NO2 and PM10 concentrations
  • The Outcome

The air quality assessment report demonstrated that air quality was not a barrier to the residential development, NO2 and PM10 concentrations at modeled worst case receptors were within national pollutant objectives, and pollutant contribution from traffic was minimal.
