Studying wind interaction with a tree-laden tower and transit hub

Tree House is a 140m mixed-use tower that will rise next to Rotterdam Central Station, housing nearly 300 residential units along with office and retail space. Designed as a model for sustainable urban living, the development features open-air terraces lush with trees, reused and recycled materials, and systems for rainwater capture and reuse. With its prominent location and green-forward design, the tower called for careful wind studies to ensure safety and comfort in adjacent public spaces. RWDI supported the project with specialized wind assessments, helping Tree House move toward becoming a high-performance, climate-conscious landmark in the city’s core.
