Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP)

Sustained monitoring after historic pipeline environmental review

Sustained monitoring after historic pipeline environmental review

The Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP) is a major infrastructure initiative that involves twinning an existing crude oil pipeline system between Alberta and British Columbia to increase transport capacity from 300,000 to 890,000 barrels per day. Designed to improve market access for Canadian oil, the project includes new and expanded pump stations, tank terminals, and a marine terminal. Given its national significance and environmental sensitivity, TMEP underwent one of the most extensive regulatory reviews ever conducted for a Canadian pipeline. Since 2012, RWDI has played an ongoing role in supporting the project through this process and beyond, contributing environmental assessments and monitoring to help manage impacts and support compliance.
