Determining how wind and shadows will affect the design of a new landmark building

Thetris is a 23-storey office tower poised to become a new landmark on the southern edge of Milan. With a strong emphasis on sustainability, the 40,000-square-metre development features a distinctive façade design incorporating vertical fins that contribute both to aesthetics and energy performance. As part of the design process, RWDI supported the project team by assessing how wind and shadow patterns would interact with the building’s unique geometry — insights that informed structural design, energy modeling, and helped reduce the tower’s environmental footprint.
