Acute damping as a wind mitigation strategy for single-axis solar trackers

Single-axis solar trackers help maximize solar panel efficiency, but their long, flexible structures are vulnerable to wind. Looking to improve tracker stability and durability, our client explored damping as a mitigation strategy. RWDI’s aeroelastic wind tunnel testing revealed that heavily overdamped trackers could effectively suppress wind-induced motion. This insight informed the development of a customized damping device that supports the long-term reliability of the system.
