Noise and vibration monitoring for a very busy mass transit system

The Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system sees over 3.4 million daily riders and stretches across the country’s main island. When the Circle Line track system underwent upgrades to replace its double fastclip system with low stiffness fasteners, RWDI was brought in to assess the acoustic and vibrational impacts. Through in-tunnel monitoring of noise, vibration, and rail deflection, alongside surface-level surveys near residential areas and control points, RWDI delivered comparative data before and after installation. These insights supported a clear evaluation of system performance and ensured minimal disruption to nearby communities.
