Technical expertise behind the world’s tallest twin towers

The Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur are 88-storey twin skyscrapers that soared to global prominence as the tallest buildings in the world upon their completion in 1998. Designed to be an architectural and cultural symbol of Malaysia’s growth, the towers stand 452 meters tall and are connected by a striking skybridge. Their unprecedented height and bold design demanded meticulous attention to wind and structural behavior. RWDI contributed a suite of studies — including wind loading, pedestrian-level wind comfort, and skybridge stability — helping ensure the towers’ performance, safety, and comfort for both occupants and visitors. Today, they remain the tallest twin towers in the world and a defining icon of the Kuala Lumpur skyline.
