Confronting wind and turbulence risks at 8,000 feet
Located 11 miles east of Quito in the Andean highlands at an elevation of 8,000 feet, Mariscal Sucre International Airport was developed to replace the city’s aging and constrained airport. The 3,700-acre facility opened in 2013, offering expanded capacity, modern infrastructure, and a safer location for aviation operations. Recognized by the United Nations for its sustainability initiatives, the airport has earned multiple awards and continues to serve as Ecuador’s primary international gateway.
