A striking pedestrian crossing for Brisbane’s riverfront
Kangaroo Point Bridge is a 460-metre cable-stayed pedestrian and cyclist crossing and the longest of its kind in Australia. It connects Brisbane’s Central Business District with the Kangaroo Point peninsula. With its slender steel deck, 95-metre central mast, and integrated viewing areas, the bridge is designed not only as a transport link but as a destination that enhances how people experience the Brisbane River. As part of Brisbane’s “Bridges for Brisbane” program, it supports a more walkable and rideable city shaped by its subtropical climate. RWDI reviewed wind conditions across the bridge and surrounding areas to support comfortable walking and cycling conditions while addressing potential wind-related noise. This work improved day-to-day usability of the Kangaroo Point Bridge and helped deliver a more enjoyable and reliable crossing.
