Gran Torre Santiago
Rising above the Andes and redefining the skyline with South America's tallest building
Rising above the Andes and redefining the skyline with South America’s tallest building
Gran Torre Santiago rises 300 metres (984 feet) above Santiago, Chile as the tallest building in South America, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Andes Mountains. Located within the Costanera Center, the 62-storey tower anchors Santiago’s financial district and stands as a defining symbol of the city’s growth and global ambition. As a LEED Gold certified building, it reflects a strong commitment to sustainability alongside its architectural ambition. RWDI supported the project through structural wind engineering, helping the design team understand how the tower’s height, slender form, and exposed location within a mountainous wind environment would influence its performance. Our work informed design strategies that support structural reliability and occupant comfort at height. The result is a high-performing supertall tower that responds to its unique setting while reinforcing its presence as a landmark on the Santiago skyline.
