A culturally inspired river crossing shaped by design, landscape, and performance
Boorloo Bridge introduces a new pedestrian and cyclist crossing over the Swan River in Perth. Its curved, cable-stayed form reflects both the surrounding landscape and cultural context. The design protects existing flora, reduces impact on the river, and creates a more connected waterfront experience. Developed in collaboration with Whadjuk Noongar traditional owners, the bridge brings cultural meaning into a modern piece of infrastructure. RWDI helped align the bridge’s design with its wind environment, ensuring its sculptural form performs as well as it looks. The result is the Boorloo Bridge being a stable and comfortable crossing that supports everyday use and enhances Perth’s evolving waterfront.
