Bond Street Station Upgrade

Noise, acoustics, and vibration monitoring for the upgrade of a station in the London Underground

Noise, acoustics, and vibration monitoring for the upgrade of a station in the London Underground

The Bond Street Station upgrade project involved the construction of several new elements, including a new station entrance, escalator hall, lifts, link to the new Crossrail station, and connection improvements between London Underground lines. The site for the upgrade is on Oxford Street, directly opposite the current Bond Street Station entrance. The area is amongst receptors sensitive to noise and vibration, and there are also several high-profile properties nearby the upgrade site. The RWDI team was commissioned to carry out noise and vibration assessments. The upgrades increased the capacity of station entrances and exits by 30 % and successfully made the station step-free in a smooth construction process.
