Maintaining energy performance and occupant comfort in a multi award-winning mass timber structure

Maintaining energy performance and occupant comfort in a multi award-winning mass timber structure

80 Atlantic Avenue is Toronto’s first new mass timber commercial office building in over 30 years, setting a new standard for sustainable design in Liberty Village. The innovative structure features exposed timber columns, beams, and cross-laminated timber ceilings, combining aesthetic appeal with high-performance materials. Shadowing the LEED program, the building achieved a 25% reduction in energy use above the Ontario Building Code, meeting sustainability goals. RWDI played a key role in commissioning the building systems, ensuring optimal control of temperature, humidity, and overall performance, thus maintaining energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
