Extensive building enclosure support for a luxury residential tower
500 Walnut is a 27-story luxury residential tower in Philadelphia, designed by Cecil Baker + Partners and located across from Independence Hall. RWDI’s building enclosure consultants collaborated with the design team from schematic design through construction, using a design-assist approach to ensure performance, craftsmanship, and cost efficiency. We developed solutions for technically demanding assemblies including flush window wall slab edge covers, angular bay windows, parapets, and interfaces between the window wall and metal panel systems. Our work extended to waterproofing deep foundations and terraces, controlling humidity at an indoor pool, and conducting rigorous factory quality control on insulating glass units. The result is a sleek, acoustically resilient tower that communicates quality and durability while respecting its historic surroundings.
