RWDI Acquires California Based Acoustics Engineering Company Newson Brown Acoustics
RWDI and Newson Brown announce today that RWDI has acquired the California based firm Newson Brown Acoustics, an acoustical consultation service company to the building design and construction industry. The acquisition of this exceptional team of acoustical engineers will accelerate RWDI’s global stance as leaders in the noise, acoustics, and vibration (NAV) industry. Together, we’re positioned to address the emerging environmental challenges facing our global clients.
With over 28 years in the industry, Newson Brown provides a full range of acoustical consulting services, including architectural acoustics, building services noise and vibration control, community and environmental acoustics, and acoustical troubleshooting.
Newson Brown’s established relationships throughout California, combined with an impressive portfolio of national and international projects, will accelerate the existing growth of RWDI’s NAV services and provide a regional footprint within the Southwest United States.
This acquisition builds on previous NAV acquisitions of Southdowns Environmental Consulting (2022) in the UK, and Wilkinson Murray (2020) in Australia, and clearly positions RWDI as one of the global leaders in noise, acoustic, and vibration services.
Over the past 28+ years, Newson Brown has worked on many significant entertainment projects across the Los Angeles and California regions; perhaps most noteworthy is their work in the Broadcast and Studios, Entertainment, and Music & Performance industries. The team has conducted full acoustical design of TV broadcast and support facilities, including Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros., CNN (the Larry King show), On Air! with Ryan Seacrest, Oprah Winfrey Network, and Walt Disney Animation Studios. Other notable projects range from the UCLA, Evelyn & Mo Ostin Music Center and UCLA, Music School, to the Fox Television Audio Rooms & Fox Sports International, Beats by Dr. Dre Relocation Project, and full acoustical design at Interscope Records headquarters.
The team served as the lead noise and vibration specialists for UCLA’s $10 million state-of-the-art campus music facility. The Evelyn & Mo Ostin Music Center in Los Angeles is a 23,000 square foot project, which includes a state-of-the-art 4,300 square foot recording studio and large ensemble/rehearsal. Completed in 2015, the music facility has won multiple design awards and was described as ‘a tour de force of acoustical engineering’ by Architectural Digest.
