An unprecedented urban development shaped by performance and comfort
Hudson Yards in New York City is the largest private real estate development in U.S. history. It transforms Manhattan’s West Side into a vibrant, mixed-use neighborhood built above rail infrastructure and connected to the High Line. Comprising multiple residential and commercial towers alongside expansive public space, the development sets a new benchmark for how cities can integrate density, infrastructure, and public experience. RWDI supported the project over multiple phases. We worked with the design team to understand how the towers interact with each other and with the surrounding environment. Our work helped inform design strategies that improve pedestrian comfort, optimize air movement, and enhance building performance across the site. The result is a highly coordinated urban environment where towers, public spaces, and infrastructure function together to create a comfortable, livable, and high-performing district in the heart of New York City.
