One Vanderbilt

A defining supertall shaping performance, experience, and the New York City skyline

A defining supertall shaping performance, experience, and the New York City skyline

One Vanderbilt is a 93-story, 1,401-foot-tall supertall skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, delivering 1.6 million square feet of premium office and observation space at the corner of 42nd Street and Vanderbilt Avenue. As one of the tallest buildings in New York City, the tower plays a defining role in the city’s skyline and urban experience. RWDI supported the project through wind engineering and environmental performance consulting, helping the design team understand how the building’s height and form respond to New York’s complex urban wind climate. Our work contributed to strategies such as supplemental damping and performance-driven design refinements, supporting a stable, comfortable, and high-performing building. The result is a resilient tower that enhances occupant comfort and delivers a premium experience from street level to the observation deck.
