Restoring and preserving historic university dormitories in a massive, multi-phase renovation

Restoring and preserving historic university dormitories in a massive, multi-phase renovation

The University of Pennsylvania’s historic Quadrangle buildings – over 520,000 square feet of dormitories known as the Quad – were originally built in 1895. The structures are being renovated in a multi-phased construction timeline that accommodates students living in the dorms during the academic year. RWDI experts are serving as enclosure consultants, providing technical input for repairs to the existing buildings through condition assessment, details, specifications, and construction documents. Our renovation of the Quad takes into consideration its historic designation. Any changes on the outside, including the windows, are first reviewed by the City Historical Society and UPenn’s Historical Society.
