Establishing and monitoring acceptable construction parameters — and affirming a safe design — for the second tallest building in London

22 Bishopsgate, also known as TwentyTwo, is a 278-meter, 62-storey office tower in London’s financial district. Its distinctive 23-sided geometry and glass façade make it a standout among nearby buildings. As construction took place in a densely populated area, managing noise, vibration, and dust was crucial, as was understanding the wind behavior around the tower’s unique design. RWDI’s team conducted wind assessments and scale model testing to evaluate pressures on the building and pedestrian comfort, while also creating a comprehensive management plan for noise and dust. The outcome is a safe, resilient structure that contributes to the skyline as the second tallest building in London, only behind The Shard.
