The Challenge
Our client required the preparation of an air quality assessment of the impacts associated with a new plant for the heating system at St. Helier Hospital.
Our Approach
As part of this project, our team of experts:
- Undertook a detailed assessment of the operational impacts associated with heating system equipment, including boilers and steam generators.
- Employed ADMS-Roads dispersion modelling software to predict the contribution of NO2 at local receptors on air quality, the main pollutant of concern for point-source gas-fired combustion sources.
- Analyzed the effects of low-NOX boilers and the new CHP on on-site NOX emissions to reveal air quality impacts at on- and off-site receptors.
The Outcome
Our assessment incorporated embedded mitigation within the energy plant scheme by ensuring a minimum flue stack height to minimise impacts on local air quality at ground level.
