The Challenge
Our client required detailed air dispersion modelling for the assessment of air quality impacts associated with proposals for a disaster recovery scheme at the hospital.
Our Approach
Our team of air quality experts:
- Conducted a detailed modelling assessment for the operation of a new disaster recovery scheme to provide a backup supply of steam in the event of critical failure.
- Incorporated embedded mitigation within the model by strategically locating boilers and increasing flue stack heights to minimise impacts on local air quality.
- Examined the adjacent Portsdown Hill Nature Reserve Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and demonstrated that NO2 concentrations from the new disaster recovery scheme were permissible.
The Outcome
The results of this assessment showed that air quality did not present a constraint to the operation of the disaster recovery scheme.
