The Challenge
Our client required an occupational hygiene assessment to measure employee exposure to particulate matter (PM), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), and noise during workplace activities.
RWDI was appointed to undertake an occupational hygiene survey to assess airborne contaminants at the premises and to demonstrate compliance with Health and Safety Executive Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs).
Our Approach
To demonstrate compliance with WELs and develop mitigation measures where needed, our multidisciplinary team:
- Assessed occupational noise exposures within the main production area.
- Identified key activities with respect to employees’ exposure.
- Selected representative employees in each main work area to fit with personal monitoring equipment during part of their shift.
The Outcome
A final report was submitted to the client with comparison of WELs and the provision of mitigation options that could be implemented where exceedances of the WELs were identified.
