Mixed-use residential and commercial precincts are becoming more commonplace in major cities around the world in response to increasing population density. These mixed-use precincts can often contain numerous noise-generating commercial tenancies (e.g. restaurants, bars, pubs) that are in close proximity of residential uses both within and outside the development. One of the challenges of these mixed-use precincts is providing a suitable level of acoustic amenity for the nearby residential uses without placing onerous restrictions on the operation of the retail components of the precinct.
This webinar will outline how an acoustic masterplan can assist in striking this balance between acoustic comfort for residential occupants and achieving an active and vibrant retail precinct. We will investigate what noise mitigation and management options need to be considered to facilitate an optimal acoustic outcome for mixed-use precincts.
