The Application of CFD in Stack Interference
When stacks are in groups, depending on the distance between them in relation to their size and angle of attack, downwind stacks are subjected to severe wind loads due to vortex shedding and wake buffeting. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has been critically challenged so far in applications to such problems involving bluff bodies and high Reynolds numbers. This paper is an interum result of ongoing experiements to validate the CFD simulation method and recognizes its application in the foreseeable future.

Wind Loads: Where does the IS 875 code of practice stand?
IS 875 is used in India to predict wind-induced local loads as well as overall structural loads on buildings. In November, RWDI presented a paper at the National Conference on Wind Engineering held in Surat, Gujarat India that compares wind tunnel results and IS 875 predictions for a standard CAARC building. The findings highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the code and provides recommendations to better predict wind loads.
